Texas Maritime Museum

1202 Navigation Circle
Rockport, Texas 78382

The Texas Maritime Museum had its origin in the late 1970’s at Rockport’s annual fall festival, Seafair, where presentations of antique outboard motors, fishing equipment and mounted fish drew enthusiastic crowds. By 1980, realizing the popularity of the annual exhibits and recognizing the potential of a permanent maritime museum, the community began the incorporation process to establish the Texas Maritime Museum Association, Inc. Construction of the museum building began in 1988 and the James H. Sorenson Building opened July 1,1989.
