0 "Booty Call" by Kitty Angell

For 35 years, exhibiting and judging cats was a major part of my life. In the “early days” when I was exhibiting cats, I traveled with two girls, Jody and Anna; and we shared hotel rooms to cut down on expenses.

Anna was notorious for staying up all night, and then waiting until the last minute to get dressed, groom her cats and get ready for the show. She also had a habit of sleeping in her t-shirt and underpants.

One weekend, as she still lolled in the bed sleeping, Jody and I decided to order room service because we knew we wouldn’t make it to the show on-time otherwise. Jody and I went outside to start loading the car. There was a knock on the door. Anna awoke, realizing she was the only one in the room. She jumped out of bed, ran to the door, only to find a young man with a tray of food for us.

Simultaneously, as this happened, one of Anna’s prize show cats ran through her legs and headed down the hall of the hotel. Without even thinking, she pushed the young man aside, went running down the narrow hallway, bent over and arms stretched out trying to catch her cat.

She finally caught the cat and realized that the young man and anyone else in the hallway had seen her state of attire (or I should say “state of un-attire!”). As she sheepishly slipped through the doorway to our room, the red-faced waiter looked down at her and said…

“Nice cat, lady.”

From then on, Anna wore pajama bottoms with her T-shirt!
