Recipe | Chinese Pepper Steak

  • 1 1/2 pound sirloin steak cut in 1/8 inch slices
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 t pepper
  • 1 t salt
  • 1t ground ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 large green pepper sliced
  • 2 large onions sliced thinly
  • 1/4 cu soy sauce
  • 1/2 t sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 4 green onions cut in 1 inch pieces
  • Hot cooked rice
Heat oil and add garlic, salt, ginger and pepper. Saute until garlic is golden. Add steak slices, brown for 2 minutes. Remove meat. Add green peppers and onions, cook 3 minutes. Return beef to skillet, add soy sauce, sugar, bouillon cubes, water chestnuts, cornstarch dissolved in cold water and green onions. Simmer until sauce thickens about 2 minutes and serve over hot rice. 6 servings.
