Rest in Peace Richard Haynie

Richard Haynie - Sailor, Singer, Volunteer and Methodist from Birth.

Richard came back to Rockport the last two weeks of his life to be surrounded by friends and family by the water, palms, and the best sunsets in Texas. When he came to Rockport at the age of 83, he started shopping for his sailboat. When he found a 32ft. Islander he found his new home. He loved to sing in the Methodist Choir, make electrical castoffs work again for Castaways, and watch the dolphins from his boat. His banker was shocked that an 84 year old would be buying his first sailboat. He was kind, generous and loved to help especially for his Methodist friends and family.

He helped plan his military burial, which will be held at the Coastal Bend VA Cemetery at 11am and a celebration at the Rockport United Methodist Church at 1:30pm on Friday, Feb 24, 2012.
