0 Community in Art Project Dedicated at Martha Luigi Auditorium

Community in Art Project dedicated at Martha Luigi Auditorium. The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony for The Education Foundation dedication of the Community in Art (CIA) Project. This unique tile monument is located on the Aransas County Independent School District high school campus just west of the entrance to Martha Luigi Auditorium. Representing the Chamber were members of the Bay Blazers Team, Chamber staff, fellow Chamber members, and Board of Directors. CIA is a collaborative project of many local artists, The Education Foundation, Aransas County ISD, The Margaret Sue Rust Foundation, and Rockport Center for the Arts. The featured tiles displayed on each of the four monoliths are the creation of local artist, Nancy Barnes.

This beautiful monument provides impressive public art on the ACISD campus. The smaller tiles are designed and created in collaboration with the Rockport Fulton High School Art students and local artists. Each tile is a work of art that celebrates or memorializes the lives of individuals in schools and across the community. Additionally, special tiles have been designed to celebrate all the Shining Star students throughout the years. This project is a celebration of the wonderful creative contribution of the late Charlotte Shannon Hilton, whose talents and coordination paved the way for the exhibit’s construction and installation. This is truly a work of art that the community may enjoy for years to come. CIA is an ongoing project for The Education Foundation. The proceeds for the purchase of the tiles benefit the Foundation’s Endowment Fund.
