Letter to the Editor: "The Friendliest Pool In Texas"

by Rebecca Bagby, Friends of the Pool Member

The Friendliest Pool in Texas (Aransas County's own Community Pool) has had a banner summer swim program this season. More than 150 young swimmers have been taught the basics of swimming (from babies, to toddlers to young adults). And, the season is not yet over.

Family Night Swim on Tuesday and Thursday evenings has been a great way to spend warm summer evenings. And private parties in the big pool, small pool, or on the ‘deck’ have introduced more people to this community asset. What a cool venue! Even the Skate Park has been the site of birthday parties.

The Community Pool in Rockport is located at 2100 Stadium Dr., Rockport, Texas 78382 (behind the Aransas County High School and Junior High School campus). It is supported and managed by the City of Rockport, Aransas County, Friends of the Pool (FOP), and the Town of Fulton.

I would love to add my own recommendations for a wonderful community asset. I have been enjoying low impact water aerobics for over a year and now add in some aqua zumba and my plate is full. The greatest folks around are in these classes and it is a grand way to spend a late afternoon. My body has thanked me all year!
