Sunsets on the Coastal Bend

by Rebecca Bagby

Live Oak Peninsula and its sister--Lamar Peninsula near Rockport, Texas are rich in natural wonders and resources. One of which is our gorgeous sunsets.

Overlooking Copano/Port Bay may be the best spots for viewing these daily wonders. The pier at Holiday Beach, the Howard Murph County Park across from the airport on FM 1781 and the dead end of Cape Velero Rd. are three prime (land) viewing spots. Or take your boat, canoe, or kayak and just float while the day slips over the horizon. Make a date to enjoy a sunset (there's an App for your i-phone or Android or i-pad that will give you the exact time for sunset). Don't forget to take mosquito repellent with you (those little buggers are hungry!) and a camera and spend a little time enjoying one of our ever changing, never the same, totally unique always free area attractions.
