Roving Reporter: Banding Pics from HummerBird Festival

Pictures Courtesy of Tom Ross (Visitor from Medina, Ohio)

The Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce put on another wildly successful HummerBird Festival! Excited spectators came from all over the country to see the Rockport-Fulton Hummingbirds, as well as all the other beautiful birds this area has to offer! Some of the skimmer boat riders also got a special treat with the appearance of some spunky dolphins that put on quite a show!

The above pictures were taken during a banding event at the Colmer Home in Spanish Woods. It was very exciting to see the hummingbird get weighed, measured and released! Interesting fact: less than 1% of the hummingbirds that get banded get captured again for data comparison.

This was my first HummerBird Festival experience. I've lived here for a few years now but never had a chance to attend. It was interesting to experience the festival more as a tourist than a local....really makes you appreciate what Rockport-Fulton has to offer!!
