7 Recommendation Needed | Houston Transplant Astronomy Buffs Seek Active Rockport Club!

"My wife and I recently retired TO Rockport and AWAY from Houston, Texas., In so doing I left behind a very active astronomy club.  I would like to meet others in the area who are interested in this avocation. I have built, bought and used several telescopes over the years and am presently considering getting into astrophotography. Possible future activities include formal meetings and public outreach. This is a "start-up" adventure so all ideas are welcome. Thanks for reading this."  - Thomas

Wow this sounds like a fun adventure. I don't know about any local groups myself, but if you start doing the photography that you talk about, I hope you will share with on the WWN....would LOVE to see that!!

You could volunteer to teach astronomy classes to the kids at The Odyssey After School Enrichment program. We'd love to have someone come do astronomy activities with our kids! We were visted by a planetarium earlier this year, and the kids are very interested in learning more! Vist our website at http://www.odysseyafterschool.org or email odysseyafterschool@yahoo.com. You can also call us at 729-0373.

I would be interested in being part of an astronomy group and would like to visit with you about such. Please contact me at beg@rockportsearch.com or 361-790-7952.

A few years ago, I went to a Star Party at Goose Island that was hosted by a club that I THINK was out of Corpus. I’m also curious, Thomas. Do you happen to know my friend Chuck Shaw? You can e-mail me at CindyServingInThailand@yahoo.com.

There is a group in Corpus

Ooooo if you create a group in Rockport, please post more information! Sounds intriguing...could be fun!

What you describe sounds very interesting. I don't have any experience in astronomy, but I would love to get involved in what you are doing. I reside in your area. You can contact me at shm6294@yahoo.com I look forward to hearing from you.
