The World According to Bella | "A Fishy Tale"

"I was worried they'd leave me behind. I started pacing back and forth. Finally when I saw Mr. C put my black bag in the van I knew I was along for the trip.

After miles and miles and miles of dreary landscapes Mr. C rolled the window down. One whiff of that lake air told me just where we were headed. When the van stopped and the door opened I did not waste a minute leaping right out toward the house. I needed to make my routine bunny check under the porch. When I was satisfied no bunnies had moved in while we were gone to the cities my nose began to twitch. What was that new smell?

I saw Mr. C and Mrs.S standing on the hill overlooking the lake. Strong smells floated our way. I heard them say something about how it looked like a whole village out there on the lake with so many ice houses. It was at that point I lost control and raced down the hill to the lake. I just had to find out where those delicious smells were coming from.

All weekend long I wondered who or what was inside those houses? What could they be doing? Why did the houses move about? Why were there lights on all night long? Where were the fish if skins were all scattered about? All I can say is, "What a feast stretched out in front of me." Now what animal could possibly resist such temptation! Certainly not me.

With wild abandonment I dug right into the piles of fish skins. As you can imagine Mr.C and Mrs. S were not too pleased those ice fishermen were so careless. Hey,okay by me. All this made my life easier. I didn't even have to beg for food. It was right there.

Later my excellent fish adventures came to a screeching halt. My tummy started to feel queasy. Here I am in the photo too sick to even move from the landing to go upstairs to my bed. That night I kept Mr. C and Mrs. S up the entire night. I had to go outside many, many times. Sadly, sometimes I didn't even make it to the door. They had a lot of messes to clean up. Maybe I shouldn't have swallowed whole a 12 inch piece of fish skin. But it did taste soooooo good even though it made me real sick. Perhaps it would be safer for me to stick with the dog park in the cities and skip lake adventures out on the ice."
