Recipe | Crock-pot Chocolate Lava Cake by Chelcie Oliver

"I took this originally from my Grandma's church cookbook and modified it to suit what we liked. Enjoy!"
  • 1 package Devil's Food cake mix
  • 1-2/3 cups water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnuts (optional)
In a bowl, combine the cake mix, water, eggs and oil; beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium for 2 minutes. Transfer to a greased slow cooker - I believe mine is 4 qt. In another bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Spoon over cake batter and scatter chocolate chips and optional walnuts over it. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or until a toothpick inserted in cake portion comes out with moist crumbs. You're going to have plenty of sauce with it to pour on your ice cream too! Don't try to double this, I tried and wound up with cake and lava all over my cabinet!
