Mr. C spent several weeks in advance of his Hawaii trip getting me in top shape for the dog sitter’s house. Despite the continuing freezing temperatures and lots of snow Mr. C has managed to keep up our daily walks to the park. The day he and Mrs. S left I got lots of instructions on how I should behave at someone else’s house. It is a NO-NO to jump up on beds and couches and no whining allowed or begging for early breakfasts and dinners. They promised me Skype time to keep in touch, packed me up and off they went.
Frankly, I don’t miss them one bit. I am having way too much fun. Besides my dog sitter has not followed their instructions very well, which is fine by me.
She doesn’t care for the size of my doggie bed. She thought I was hanging off the edge too much and looked uncomfortable. So now with a pillow and 2 blankets rolled up I am as comfy as can be. Recently I hit the jackpot. I was finally allowed on my dog sitter’s bed next to Mulligan. Maybe it was my sad brown eyes or my best tail wag that did the trick. All I know is I thought I had died and gone to heaven. And I even like all the TV shows she watches.
Everyday my dog sitter gives out extra treats at the park and does not seem to worry about weight gain like Mrs. S does. Mulligan and I spend our days wrestling inside, playing tug of war with his toys and romping through the snow in his backyard. At the end of the day it’s a race to the food dish after the dog park. I’ve learned to be quick otherwise Mulligan will get to my meal before me.
Last time I spent two weeks at their house, my dog sitter declared I was “the perfect house guest.” This time I’m not too sure. I managed to get into a bit of trouble at the dog park with another dog, and their cat Nicky has fled for his life to the basement and won’t come upstairs. I just don’t understand what’s his problem.
All and all I am having the best time ever. I am hopeful Mr. C and Mrs. S will sign up for two more weeks of vacation. I am not ready to go home. I want more time here."
