Recipe | "Hot & Spicy Texan Cocoa" by Alice Rose

What You'll Need Equipment-Wise:
  • Saucepan
  • Metal Whisk
  • Measuring Cup
Ingredients (Makes 1 Large Mug, Double Recipe to Share with a Friend):
  • 2 Heaping Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 C. White Sugar
  • 1 1/2 C. Milk
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 2 Dashes of Cayenne Pepper (Trust me, this is delicious!!)
  • 2 Dashes of Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
Pour the milk in the sauce pan and turn the heat on medium-high. Pour in the sugar, salt, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and whisk continuously for 3-4 minutes until the sugar has dissolved. Pour in the cocoa powder and continue to stir. The mixture will appear bubbly, but will disperse as the mixture heats up.

Continue to whisk mixture as you bring it just shy of a boil. Turn off the heat, and at the last minute pour in the vanilla extract. Pour through a strainer into your favorite mug. The strainer will remove whatever lumps remain from the cocoa powder. Enjoy!
