"It's Christmas at Odyssey!" by Ms. Kendall Harris’s Fourth Grade Class

It's Christmas at Odyssey! Christmas at Odyssey is awesome! That is the overwhelming response from the kids here at the Odyssey After School Program. This week the kids in all classes are busy coloring Christmas cards as a community service for the Good Samaritans who will include the cards in gift baskets for the needy this Holiday Season. Of special interest was a visit from one of Santa’s “elves” (our own Chelsea Gaither, teacher’s assistant) who personally interviewed each child to record a favorite Christmas gift/wish. Fulfilling the wishes of our Odyssey kids is always a challenge and a joy, and we thank all of our supporters in advance for all you do for us – great and small! Over the next several weeks Odyssey will be deep into the Christmas Spirit, decorating Christmas trees, making ornaments, cooking cookies, bringing Holiday cheer to our senior citizens, and of course looking forward to our annual Christmas Party!

Almost equal to the Holiday excitement has been the kids exuberant welcome to our chickens! Yes, the chickens are finally settled at home in their new chicken coup and have already laid two eggs…the kids are amazed! An especially heartfelt thank you goes to the people who volunteered to build our coop, and who baby-sat our chickens until we were ready for them.

We promise to keep you informed and warm your hearts as we count down to Christmas…and Christmas vacation! Happy Holidays from all of us at Odyssey!
