3 Rest in Peace | Mary Lynn Hooker

A wonderful woman transitioned today to a better place, leaving us to miss her. The energy and life that came together to be Mary Lynn Hooker was unique and beautiful and I shall miss her very much. An obituary with all the dates and facts will be written, but the impact she made on our hearts is what will be remembered.

I first met Mary Lynn when she came to Rockport to fish in a tournament with her girlfriends. I’d heard about her, the anecdotes of fun times. Meeting her was better. Direct, subtle, wry humor, great laugh, bright smile and eyes that saw straight into you.

Several years ago when I was looking for a place to have the WWN Halloween party, Mary Lynn offered her place of business, Black Dog Signs and Promotions. She’d expanded her business, built a larger space and it was perfect for a gathering of interesting characters, costumes and music. All of you who attended remember, and some still talk about it. For the last four year we celebrated All Hallows Eve together, some at Black Dog, then at other places as the crowd grew, each gathering topping the last.

Thank you, Mary Lynn, for bringing so much joy to life. Mine is certainly better for having you in it.

To all who loved her, Johnny, her family and friends, know that her loss is shared by so many.

Love, Barbara
