Local Profile | "4 Questions with Ty Helgenberger: Outdoorsman, Father of Four, Owner of 'Nutrition That Works'

1. Where (and how) did you grow up?  I grew up in Alaska and Colorado. My family lived in Anchorage until I was about 14 and then we moved to Montrose, Colorado. Living in those places meant that we spent a lot of time in the outdoors camping, hiking, fishing and hunting! We lived in the country on 10 acres in Colorado where we raised our own garden, chickens, rabbits, llamas and horses. Montrose was a small enough town, then, that you knew all of your neighbors and a trip to the grocery store was a social event!

2. How did your upbringing affect what you do for a living now? I think the fact that I grew up with such an active life-style gave me an appreciation for the importance of staying healthy in order to continue this throughout the remainder of my life.
So finding a profession that provides me an opportunity to experience youthful aging as well as giving me the time-freedom to enjoy these activities is a direct result of this!

3. What brought you to Rockport-Fulton (and how does it differ from where you have lived previously)? We came to Rockport last year because my wife Kathy and I wanted to do something different and exciting with our lives once our kids had all moved out. The last of our four children had just finished her first year in college when we made the decision to move here. We both love the water (both the beach and fishing) and we feel that we have moved to paradise! Colorado is a beautiful place to visit but we have definitely found our home! We do not miss the cold and snow!

4. What are your passions? I am passionate about God and family above all else! My wife Kathy and I both feel that we were called to move here and do what we do. After that, I would have to say that I am most passionate about helping people find both physical and financial freedom through our business! It’s so rewarding to see the people that we work with reclaim their health! I have the honor of mentoring and coaching people to achieve financial freedom as well through the profession of network marketing! As a former High School Science teacher, I find that I am still teaching, just to a different group of students!
