ADOPTED! Pet Adoption | "Katy" the Calico with a Coat of Many Colors!

My name is Katy and I'm named after the town of Katy, Texas. I'm not sure why since I live here in Rockport/Fulton, but it's a pretty name like me. I'm not very big but I like to sit up nice and straight as you can see to show off my multi-colored fur coat and greet people who come to visit the Humane Society.

I'm a calico cat. My fur is tricolor with splashes of orange/brown and black/gray on white. Calico's are considered lucky in many countries like Japan, and are almost always female. I had to learn a little science to understand why. Females have two X chromosomes, one carries the orange/brown gene and one the black/gray gene. Since a male cat has only one X chromosome, he normally cannot have both colors together. There's a third chromosome that gives a calico the splashy look on white fur.

I'd love to bring luck to someone's home. Could it be yours? Please come see me and my beautiful fur, and we'll cozy up for a pet or two.
