Roving Reporter | "Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) Chick" Shared and Photographed by David Ilfrey

"Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) chick. It did not want me nearby. I felt for it, even though it sounded mean it could barley stand and fend for itself. I backed off after a few photos. What was really amazing to me is their incredible similarities to the Velociraptor dinosaur that we saw at the Discover The Dinosaurs event. It was like seeing evolution from dinosaur to bird in a couple days." - David Ilfrey (David is a local business owner & horticulture expert at Native Dave in Rockport. Thanks for sharing, Dave!)

Good thing they have the rookery islands protected, photos from boats only, right? Love the photos, haven't seen GB Heron chicks at this age, amazing!
