Roving Reporter | Winners of the Key Allegro Garden Club's "Festival of Flowers" Shared by Patricia Chapman

At the recommendation of Beverly Trifonidis of the Rockport Center for the Arts, Shirley Blackman, artist and owner of the Austin Street Gallery judged the event. The following prizes were awarded by Patricia Krueger and Patricia Chapman:

Best in Show, Krueger Prize, $400: “Magnolia Suite #3” diptych watercolor by Judith Deshong Hall, Corpus Christi.

Second, Allegro Prize, $200: “Okay Bouquet” acrylic by Betty Shamel, Rockport.

Third, Founders Prize, $100: “Scenic Trailflowers” collage by Lois Morton of Katy.

Honorable Mentions, $50 each: Shelly Grappe, Fulton, “Rockport Garden: fiber wall art; Sheila Gritte, Rockport, “Heavenly Blue” screen print; and Cheryl Henderson, Rockport, “Lily Lovers” mosaic.

The People’s Choice Award ($300) in which 139 votes tabulated by Kay Luft, were cast, was won by Rockport’s Susan Forest for her watercolor “Hibiscus Shadow.” Runner-up was Rockport’s Jane Willard’s photograph on canvas, “Mother Nature’s Bling.”
