Plein Air Painting Schedule, April 2015 through June 2015
All sessions are on Thursday afternoons, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Critique at 4:00 p.m. at the Art Center or at our painting site. All are invited to attend.

April 02, 2015—Simon Michael Studios –Located on King Street, Rockport—This 1 block area once owned by the late Simon Michael is now unoccupied and still has some structures on the land along with beautiful trees. This was the first art school in Rockport. Restrooms are not available onsite, but there is plenty of parking.

April 09, 2015—Cove Harbor Boat Works located on the north side of Cove Harbor. Boat repair business with numerous boats. We had this site on our schedule, but we were rained out. The Boat Launch is close by and also a good view of the canal. Plenty of parking and restrooms available.

April 16, 2015—Windswept Trees at corner of Maple Street and Fulton Beach Road, near McDonald's.Previously we had this location on our schedule, but we were “rained out.” Plenty of off-the-street parking;this is a unique coastal setting . Restrooms available at McDonald's.

April 23, 2015—HistoricalRockport homes north of Liberty St. on North Magnolia St.; Many restored homes are in this 3-block area with very old Live Oak Trees.. Most are 75-100 years old or older. There is lots of parking and restrooms are available one block west at Rockport Elementary site.

April 30, 2015—Fulton Harbor—Many commercial boats used for shrimping, oystering, fishing, and some private sail boats and motorboats—many boats are home made. Excellent parking, restrooms available on site. This is the end of oyster season and there might be lots of traffic as vendors retrieve the sacks of oysters and load them for processing or shipping.

May 7, 2015—Tule pavilion and bridge—newly constructed just north of Rockport Wal Mart. There is good parking available and restrooms can be accessible in the Wal Mart store. Scheduled previously in March, but rained out.

May 14, 2015—Carter Family Chapel, Port Aransas—Scheduled again by popular request, this privately owned , non-denominational chapel is located on the highest dune in Port Aransas in a residential section Directions to the chapel will be made available at the paint out May 7th.

May 21, 2015—The History Center for Aransas County—Our new venue for the Historical Commission. Located at 801 E. Cedar St., Rockport. Restrooms are inside the building, but it is not scheduled to be open at this time.

May 28, 2015—The Corpus Christi Art Center—Director Dianna Bluntzer invites our group to come to their Center at 100 Shoreline Blvd. She wants us to come about 10 AM, set up and paint on any of their outdoor areas and have lunch (there is a restaurant on-site) then continue to paint after lunch for some time. She will ask some of their Art center members to join us for this paint out. As you probably know, the art center is right across from the Harbor and has many venues available for beautiful paintings.

June 4, 2015—Rockport Beach (meet at 1st pavillion) –paint people enjoying the local vacation and scenery. Generous parking and restrooms on site. An annual pass or daily $5 pass would be required. Restrooms and shade is plentiful.

June 11, 2015—Compass Rose Park across from the ski basin. Has a gazebo and labyrinth. The park has beautifully landscaped areas, with a shady gazebo for heat relief. No on-site restrooms.

June 18, 2015—Goose Island State Park, across the way North on Copano Bay Causeway. Turn right on Park Road #1 and follow the signs on that road to Goose Island State Park. The admission fee for entering the park is $5 per person, or $2 if over 65 years of age. You can obtain or use your Texas State Parks discount card. There are unlimited possibilities at the state park. There is an “island” and a bridge to cross to get to part of the shelters. There is a pier available and plenty of restrooms and parking. The bay water is everywhere!
