ADOPTED!!Hello everyone, my name is Heidi and I'm a little bit confused. You see, when I was brought in to the shelter, my fluffy coat, floppy ears and black snout led the staff to think that I have some German Shepherd in my genes. But here I am at 6 months old and still less than 20 pounds. How on earth am I going to live up to the big tough reputation of the shepherd if I'm just a little girl?
Perhaps Rick Moranis got me with his famous shrinking ray. Honey, I Shrunk the Shepherd? Nope, I don't think I'm ever going to have legs like Heidi Klum. I must say though, what I lack in stature, I sure make up in personality - ask anyone who has come out to play with me: kids, cats, dogs... I am the life of the party, just full of Happy, Happy, Happy! And did I mention fluffy? In fact, that was my original name, but someone thought that Fluffy wasn't an appropriate name for the dog that I was to become, so they changed it to Heidi, thinking that one day, I'd be big enough to climb the Alps.
Some of you "Old Timers" may remember that book, the one written by Swiss author Johanna Spyri. If you remember, it chronicles the life and events in a young girls life while in her grandfathers care. I don't mind being in the care of the staff at the shelter, but it would be really, really nice to have a full time family of my own. Perhaps you could be my Peter. To find out and get a good look at the adorable pile of fluff that I am, come on out to the shelter, toss me a ball, grab a leash & take me for a walk, let me crawl into your heart. Just like Grandfather, you won't be able to let me go.
