Roving Reporter | "Yellow-Crowned Night Heron in Little Bay" | Photograph by Sally Mitchell

"I see a lot of black-crowned night herons, but very seldom see a yellow-crowned night heron, so I was delighted to see this one along the shore of Little Bay this morning. They really are striking looking.

I think there's some sort of universal rule that the light will always be lousy when you spot a rare bird... but hey you can't have everything!" :) - Sally Mitchell
