"September 16, 2015, the Mayor of Rockport CJ Wax signed a letter of intent for the City of Rockport to purchase the 8+ acres on Broadway and Maple, said letter to be delivered with earnest money this morning. The City of Rockport's intention is for this property to be a park featuring the iconic oak trees.

Those interested in seeing the preservation of the trees and rookery become a reality are encouraged to contact organizations or individuals who would contribute monies toward this purchase. Donations of all sizes will be welcome to reach the $3 million more-or-less needed. More information when it becomes when available." - Barbara Gurtner
