Roving Reporter | "Great Blue Heron in Distress" | Text and Photo by Rhonda Cantu

"Today I witnessed this Great Blue Heron in distress at Rockport Beach! He had twine wrapped around his bill! I spent about 4 hours trying to get close to him with a fish treat but he was too scared! Several people stopped by and stated that had called the ARK the day before but no one had come out to assist! Finally another bird lover stopped when he saw me trying to help this bird! He was able to pull him down from the tin roof and I held the wings closed while he pulled off the twine! So glad he stopped! I don't know his name! People carelessly leave their trash scattered and this is the result!" - Rhonda Cantu
