Rest in Peace | Gary Mysorski

via The Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, Facebook--2/24/16--"The Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department is sad to let everyone know that former Parks & Rec Director Gary Mysorski has died from brain cancer. Retiring early in 2012 to spend time to travel, play and have fun with his wife, Genie and to spend time with his sons, daughters-in-law and grandkids, all was well until late December 2013. He was diagnosed with brain cancer, had surgery & treatments and fought this aggressive disease bravely. He didn't give up, but said he was ready when God wanted him. He was a man who touched many lives and was a role model for young and old.

He was very involved with the community and had a positive outlook on life. His strength, great sense of humor, sense of fairness and willingness to help was appreciated. Port Aransas is a better place because of all his efforts both on and off the job. Rest in peace, Gary!"

Gary was also a very active volunteer. For many years Gary was the unmistakable 'voice' of the Rockport Art Festival's announcements projecting from the hospitality tent. He was always there to lend a hand, and a hardy laugh. Gary's positive energy and spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gary's wife Genie, and their entire family during this very difficult time.

Visitation will be at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 12 pm - 9 pm and rosary to be held at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10 am.
