Roving Reporter | "Chili Cook-Off with Dogs & Cats" | 4 Photos by Cheryl Hanes & Aileen Gillespie, Text by Deb Navin

"On Saturday Feb 20, The Oyster House held its first annual Chili Cook-Off, a fabulous fundraiser to benefit The Fulton Fire Department and The Humane Society and Adoption Center of Rockport/Fulton. Hundreds of folks stopped by to sample recipe's made by local and not-so-local chefs. HSAC's Patima Meza (AKA Miss Tilly) grabbed her secret recipe and off she went; beef was cooked, tomatoes were added along with just the right amount of heat & spice. Then the call went out for assistance and Volunteer Coordinator Aileen grabbed her crew who baked up some delicious goodies to compliment the chili. Linda's famous White Chocolate Puffed Corn was sold out within the first 5 minutes of the event!

Volunteers showed up in droves at the shelter - and the turnout was amazing. We had dogs, we had cats, we had kids and we had food! And the weather couldn't have been more beautiful! What more could we have asked for?

Well, I'll tell you what - we won 3, count them 3 trophies! Peoples Choice, Best Presenter and The Most Money Raised!

HSAC would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Oyster House's owners & staff for providing such an amazingly successful event - we are ALL grateful!"
