Roving Reporter | "Wings Rescue Center" | Article with Photos Shared by Jeanette Larson

"The newly formed organization, Wings Rescue Center, conducted their second bird rescue on April 4, 2016. A pelican had swallowed the wrong fish and injured its pouch. Dehydrated and hungry, rescuers picked up the bird and held it for transport to the rehabilitation center in Port Aransas on April 5. A veterinarian treated the bird, removing very ugly barbs from its pouch. The bird is being fed and once it gains weight will be released. Folks who find injured or orphaned birds in Rockport or Fulton can call Wings Rescue Center at 361-229-5484 and a volunteer will be dispatched."  Photos by Wings Rescue Center volunteers.
