One day I was home alone and wearing that dreaded cone. I was resourceful and managed to crawl under a chair reverse my direction and wiggle out of the cone just to reach my wrapped leg. It didn’t take long for me to chew off that wrap. When I heard Mr. C announce “I give up!” I knew I had won. From that day on my life took a turn for the better. I really was getting tired of hearing, “Bella, stop!”
I love a parade especially one on the 4th of July. I had my usual spot up front to watch all kinds of boats set sail. We counted 31. As we passed by many people on their docks I gave them all my best paw wave. Mrs. S kept us busy all afternoon and well into the evening with games, lots of treats, a campfire, s’mores and then there were the noisy fireworks. It was at that point I begged to go inside. I do not like scary noises besides I really needed a nap.
The last few weeks have been warm. I like to cool off with a swim around the dock or stay inside. I do like my AC and when Mrs. S isn’t too busy she’ll read some from my new books “Outwitting Squirrels-101 Cunning Stratagems” and “The Secret Life of Squirrels”. I need help. Now I have competition. A teenage boy down the road has recently started squirrel hunting. He caught four and I have caught only one. Chipmunk hunting is going even worse. I’m not fast enough. They are too quick scampering up a tree.
Yesterday Mrs. S bought me a huge bone from the meat market. I worked on this bone for well over an hour and my jaws were tired from all that gnawing. Later when my new cousin Luna came to visit, Sadie’s sister, I ran off with my bone and buried it in a safe spot. I was not about to share with a new puppy who likes to chew on everything. Now I just have to remember where I put it.
