Rockport Center for the Arts | "$7,500 Grant From Coastal Bend Community Foundation..."

ROCKPORT, TX. Thanks to a special Community Venue grant received from The Coastal Bend Community Foundation (Corpus Christi), this summer Rockport Center for the Arts completed a renovation of the building's front porch. The goal of grant is to allow venues to expand their outreach and improve the community's quality of life.

Karen Selim, President and CEO of the Coastal Bend Community

Foundation conducted a site visit on July 28, 2016 to survey the completed renovations. The renovations included considerable work done to repair and maintain the roof above the porch, painting the porch floor and trim, installation of a new door and re-design and re-planting of the flower bed in the front part of the building which faces Navigation Circle.

Selim stated, "The Coastal Bend Community Foundation was able to provide one-time special infrastructure grants to area non-profits from our unrestricted funds. In our somewhat harsh coastal climate, local venues' structures can suffer, and to be able to provide funding to repair and rebuild literally the front entrance to such a valuable community asset as Rockport Center for the Arts is very gratifying. And the Center did such a great job on the work!"

During her site visit, Selim was accompanied by Jack Wright who is a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundation- representing Aransas County. Wright is Senior Vice-President of Charter Bank, Rockport.

Luis Purón, Executive Director, Rockport Center for the Arts stated "We are fortunate to work and partner every year with The Coastal Bend Community Foundation on projects and programs that benefit our membership, our community, and visitors to Rockport." He added "These partnerships have allowed us to deliver substantive results for 47 years."
