The World According to Bella | "My Interrupted Summer"

If you recall my July 20th story told about the huge bone Mrs. S bought me from the meat market. Rest assured I found a safe spot at Paul’s house next door to bury it with all my other stash of bones. The bone was there for a very long time before I dug it up and brought it back to my yard. I never forget where I bury important stuff. But I’m not sure why Mrs. S felt she had to splurge on such a fine bone when I am capable of finding my own out in the woods. Today I found part of a deer leg on my morning walk to show Mrs. S. But she was quick; I was weak and gave in easily for her turkey trade.

I call this my interrupted summer with a lot things happening. It cut into my lake time as we went back and forth to the cities a lot. Lucky for me I’ve a bed there as well as a good supply of food. I was fine with all the trips just as long as Mr. C took me to the dog park so I could meet up with my friends.

When I am not traveling back and forth between the lake and the cities I have spent a lot of time redigging my hole in the front yard to get it just right. In July I spent most of my time watching Mr. C who kept busy all day using his chain saw. We had a really big storm and many huge trees came down all over. We lost some but not like Wally’s house where his owner lost over 100 trees. They now have a lake view which they never had before the storm. One big tree even crushed their car in the driveway.

I’ve done my best this summer keeping intruders out of our yard and protecting Mrs. S’s flowers. When I am off guard duty I just like to have fun chasing chipmunks and squirrels and looking for stuff in the woods. I did get in trouble the other day for taking what Mrs. S called an unsupervised swim. Seems Mrs. S was looking all over for me and didn’t realize I was having fun cooling off in the water.

You may recall one of my favorite things is going for boat rides. So you can imagine how sad I am when Mr. C leaves me behind in the evening to go fishing even though he does remind me why I've lost my fishing privileges. Seems he thinks all my barking at birds was scaring the fish away. At least that’s what Mr. C said. But really I think it’s a lame excuse since I hardly ever see Mr. C bring fish back for us to eat.

My walks to the mailbox finally improved last week with two pieces of mail. YIPPEE! Chunk remembered me and sent a nice note with a treat. I hope to get more from him. Mrs. S thinks we should send him something as a thank you. Dr. Steve sent me a reminder card about a fall visit. The problem with that is he wants me to have three different shots. Not fun.

Hope your summer is going good and mine is going too fast. I don’t want it to end. How about you? I like mail you can write me in the box below.

Love, Bella
