City of Rockport | "Memorial Christmas Tree on Display at Public Service Center"

The Rockport Police Department has decorated a tree honoring their fellow officers throughout the country, who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Each “ornament” contains the individual’s name, agency, end of watch date and the means of death. As of December 14, there have been 136 deaths.

A special note on the top of the tree says, “Each one of these dedicated individuals chose a career path in life that ended with their ultimate sacrifice, their lives. As this year draws to an end, we hope that each person who view this tree will remember that these officers were parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. and their families will be attempting to celebrate Christmas without their loved one. May God bless those families and bring them peace during these difficult times.”

The tree is on display in the lobby of the Public Safety Center, which is located at 714 E. Concho. Visitors may view the tree and pay their respects from 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday.
