Filmmakers Marianne and Doug Leviton and Carol Campbell attended the Festival in November and had a short Q&A at the end of their film block. “A Line in the Sand” was voted the second favorite short film by Festival attendees. The feature length version expands on the film’s exploration of the changing economic landscape, struggle for water rights, and small town life in Matador, Texas.

“The celebration of independent cinema should happen year-round,” says Festival Director, Elena Rodriguez. “There are so many stories to tell, and we just can’t fit it all into one weekend.”
The screening will take place at 106 S. Austin Street, in property recently purchased by Rockport Center for the Arts. In 2016, the largest ever Red Carpet Party was held in downtown Rockport for the first time. Both the screening and the party highlight the growing presence of the Art Center in Downtown Rockport.
Luis Purón, Executive Director of Rockport Center for the Arts says “We feel that our presence and our programs will re-energize Downtown.”
The screening will have a suggested admission fee of $10. Concessions will be available for sale. All proceeds from admissions and concessions will be earmarked to purchase improved outdoor screening equipment for the Festival.
Limited seating will be available, please call the Art Center at 361-729- 5519 for additional details.
