City of Rockport | Rain Doesn’t Deter Participants; 29th Annual Whooping Crane Strut Results

Despite torrential rain and brisk, northern winds, more than 100 people showed up for the 29th Annual Whooping Crane Strut on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Memorial Park. Runners, walkers, volunteers and cheerleaders braved the elements for the chip-timed event, which included a 5k and 10k run and 2-mile walk on the Memorial Park and Tule Hike & Bike Trails. Overall top performers in the male and female categories:

5K Run
Jacob Krupa (Rockport, TX) 20:22 - Amanda Butler (Rockport) 31:22

10K Run
Arturo Mendietta (Portland) 42:48 - Casey Rothlisberger (Portland) 42:49

2-Mile Walk
Kim Hodge (Marietta, OH) 25:17 - Theresa Duncan (Fulton) 26:31

Note to Editor: A list of the top finishers in each of the age categories is attached. The Masters Award is for individuals 40-59 and the Grand Master is for individuals 60+.
