City of Rockport | "City Surveying Garbage Customers"

The City of Rockport is contacting its current residential and business hand-collection garbage customers in preparation for the transition to automated collection. The informational piece provides an overview of the new service and directs users to the City’s web site to choose the proper container for their needs. Customers who do not have Internet service or are more comfortable talking to a representative are encouraged to call Utility Billing at (361) 729-2213, ext. 234, to complete the survey by phone or visit Utility Billing at City Hall 8 am – 5 pm on weekdays to complete the survey in person.

There are two options for collection – a 96- or a 65-gallon trash container. Residential customers selecting the smaller cart will receive a $0.50 discount on their monthly bill. The carts will be delivered to each residence during the week prior to the change in service. With the new system, garbage will be collected once a week and recycling will be collected once every other week. In addition to household waste, grass clippings, small branches, and leaves may be placed in the new carts weekly. In the spring and fall of each year, Republic Services will also collect up to 12 bags of leaves each week for a month. More details about the service, including changes to the collection routes, will be available closer to the transition date in June.
