City of Rockport | "Registration Underway for Youth Swim League"

The Community Aquatic and Skate Park is accepting entries and sponsorships for the 2017 Rockport Sharks Swim Team. Sponsored by the City of Rockport’s Parks and Leisure Services Department and the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF), the program is open to school age children residing in Aransas County.

Team practice begins on June 6 and is held Tuesday – Friday at 7 am for ages 11 and over and 8 am for children 10 and under. A separate, individual pre-season practice starts on May 2. The Sharks Swim Team participates in numerous competitive events in Region 16, which consists of teams from nine area counties.

Swimmers will participate in Saturday morning dual swim meetings in June and July leading up to the City Championship meet in Corpus Christi for those qualifying. Winners in the Championship event will continue to compete in TAAF region and state meets.

The cost of the summer league is $95 and includes swim times, swim cap and t-shirt. The May Pre-Season practice runs from May 2 –26 and costs an additional $50.

There are a limited number of scholarships available. Inquiries may be directed to Joe Riekers, the aquatic manager.

The Sharks are also in need of individual and business sponsors. Opportunities include scholarships, equipment purchase, banners, team shirts and more.
