Roving Reporter | "Great Reception for Art: Clay and No Net Shows" | Article and Photos by Jeanette Larson

Art lovers and artists gathered for the opening of two new shows at the Rockport Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 20. The 19th Annual Clay Arts Association member show filled the main gallery with sculpture and pottery created by more than 60 artists from around Texas and beyond. According to the competition rules the pieces have to fit into the "space of a six-pack of longnecks."

The Garden Gallery is showing works by eleven New York artists with the theme, "No Net Ensares Me." The quote from Jane Eyre encourages the women artists to assert their own wills in making their art. Several artists and the curator were in attendance. The shows run through June 10.

Show curator, Lauren Amalia Redding (l) and NY artist, Diana Corvelle
