Rockport Center for the Arts, a vibrant and prestigious multi-disciplinary arts organization of 48 years with over 700 members, located near Aransas Bay in Rockport, Texas is seeking a creative, energetic, inspired, tactful, mature, well-rounded, personable, efficient and critical thinker who recognizes and relates to guests, visitors, members and patrons how our mission is beneficial to them and is able to invite them to participate monetarily to support the organization.

Position Requirements:
A challenging yet rewarding opportunity awaits the right individual who has earned a minimum of a Bachelor degree from an accredited university, in addition to 2-5 years nonprofit development preferably in the arts, with grant writing, corporate and individual donor cultivation and fundraising experience. This position requires excellent oral and written communications, including relationship building and individual/group presentation skills. Customer service orientation a plus with an ability to interact with the public and high-level individuals and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies. A proactive planner with a positive and entrepreneurial mindset, who is able to multi-task, work well under the pressure of deadlines, and able to follow through on tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and ability to work effectively and professionally in a creative, changing office setting. A team player who is able to work independently and in teams to achieve the organization’s mission and goals. Able to understand all components of a diversified non-profit funding base. A savvy social media user. Knowledge of social fundraising tactics, technology and tools. Good website editing skills. Knowledge of donor database programs. Ability to work evenings and weekends and attend events. Must be able to lift and handle items that weigh up to 40 lbs.

Other Important Qualities:
Fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization. Assures that the organization’s corporate culture, systems and procedures support fund development and vice versa. Leads staff and volunteers to institutionalize philanthropy and fund development within the organization. Plans, coordinates and assures implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions to support the organization. Assures development and maintenance of appropriate systems to fund development including but not limited to volunteer and donor management, research, gift processing and recognition. Maintains accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources.

Essential Duties of the Position:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
• FUNDRAISING
Develops and implements a development plan in partnership with the Executive Director. Writes grants, fundraising letters and appeals; maintains regular correspondence with corporations, foundations, donors, and board members; oversees mailings. Engages in research to identify new corporate, individual, and foundation prospects. Works with staff, committees and board members to develop and organize programs to embrace related donor campaigns. Works with staff to identify program needs where fundraising shortfalls or grant making cuts may prove to benefit from alternative fundraising strategies and works to implement those strategies.
• DONOR INFORMATION
Daily update, maintenance and growth of the funding database. Analyzes giving trends and progress towards goals. Issues monthly reports. Makes recommendations on data base management systems.
• MAJOR GIFTS/DONOR SUPPORT
Coordinates and implements donor recognition program. Cultivates and nurtures relationships with current and potential corporate, individual, foundation and government funding sources. Produces major donor, board and special category solicitations/support materials with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible. Cultivates donors by producing specialized correspondence; preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits. Works with the Executive Director, committees and board members to develop and achieve fundraising goals.
• CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Works with non-profit consultants to provide them with information in support of the capital campaign activities. Tracks gifts, gift tables.
• EVENT PLANNING
Provides support to the staff, committees and the board towards the planning and execution of all special events every year. Attends and provides staff support at all major openings, dedications and programs.
• COMMUNICATION
Manages all development communications. Writes, edits and publishes newsletters, social media and eblast posts. Helps the Executive Director with press release messaging and prepares media packets.

As a member of the team, this is a fast-paced position that helps set the direction and ensures the health of the institution. The individual is expected to be a competent fundraiser and an organizational development specialist. The individual is expected to: translate broad goals into achievable steps. Help set and manage appropriate expectations. Handle detailed, complex concepts and problems and make rapid decisions regarding management and development issues. Plan and implement programs. Establish strong and appropriate relationships with Executive Director, staff, board, volunteers, donors and the community in general. Develop smooth and constructive relationships with people from all segments of the community including government. The individual is expected to: Plan and meet deadlines. Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of management. Demonstrate initiative. Adheres to the highest ethical standards in management, governance, and fund development. Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization and the not-for-profit sector. Demonstrates a commitment to continued professional growth and development.
