Since its inception in 1969, the Rockport Art Festival has been the best place to be on or near the July 4th holiday weekend. The event, hosted by the Rockport Center for the Arts, is located on Aransas Bay where more than 120 exhibiting juried artists from Texas and all around the United States have been selected to showcase their work. The quality of artists creating painting, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, glasswork, metal sculptures, furniture, and more has become synonymous with the high-quality festival, one of the most prestigious and entertaining art shows in the U.S. This year, numerous regional, state-wide, nationally-renowned and award-winning artists will be participating once again. Items of all types and prices are available for sale. In 2016, more than 10,000 attended the annual event of summer fun on the Texas Coast.

In addition to a wide variety of foo and drink, entertainment will be provided by a variety of artists inside a giant air-conditioned tent. A children’s activity tent offer youngsters the opportunity to create some of their own art work. Numerous art galleries in Rockport will be open during the holiday weekend, including the galleries at Rockport Center for the Arts.

Across from the Art Festival grounds, admission to Rockport Center for the Arts is free. The main gallery features a solo exhibit featuring artist Barb Robinson who created the 48th Annual Rockport Art Festival collectible poster, an acrylic painting entitled Breezing By. Robinson's solo exhibition at the Art Center opens Saturday, June 17th and continues through Saturday, July 29, 2017. Robinson uses acrylic on panel to create animated, impressionistic images of exquisite Texas coastal landscapes, and her work is well known to art collectors in Rockport as well as Art Festival visitors. Robinson is represented by Estelle Stair Gallery on South Austin Street.
