Congratulations to Taylor Parrish, a local Rockport-Fulton Middle School student, whose art was selected for the 48th Annual Rockport Art Festival T-shirt artist. Taylor is entering the 8th grade this fall. Inspired by marine life, Taylor aimed to create something fun yet intricate. Her design features a colorful sting-ray that is decorated with other marine and aviary life. The artwork design will be printed on a denim indigo t-shirts. Taylor will be signing t-shirts on Saturday morning at the Festival Store from 11 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Taylor’s favorite subjects in school are art and science. She enjoys drawing and playing volleyball. Her fascination with art began early on when she was in elementary school. Taylor says, “I like to draw or paint just about anything, but if I have to pick something specifically, it would be Folk Art. The most unique thing about me is my art work.”

Every year, the official Rockport Art Festival t-shirt is chosen from work created by Rockport-Fulton ISD students who participate in a t-shirt design contest held in April.

The 48th Annual Rockport Art Festival is one of the most prestigious and fun art shows in the southern United States. More than 120 juried artists from Texas and around the nation are selected to showcase their art every year. The quality of the artists that exhibit paintings, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork, metal sculptures, furniture, and more continues to grow. This year regional, state-wide and national award-winning artists are participating. Items of all types and price points will be available for sale. In 2016, 10,000 attended the annual event, Rockport’s largest festival.

In addition to art, a great variety of food, drinks, and musical entertainment will be provided inside an air conditioned tent. A children’s activity tent offers youngsters the opportunity to create some of their own art work and enjoy the sounds of special musical entertainers for children. Numerous art galleries in Rockport will be open for business over the weekend.

The Rockport Art Festival is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for Rockport Center for the Arts. Net event proceeds help support annual free art education for area youth, Free Family Saturdays and ArtSpace (formerly known as ArtLink). As a non-profit organization, the Rockport Center for the Arts is dedicated to providing an environment that nurtures the expression and appreciation of art for residents and tourists alike.
