Pet Adoption | R/F Humane Society: Teddy Bear, A Memory Maker!

You know that warm fuzzy feeling that your childhood teddy bear gave you? That feeling that all is well with the world, that with bear in arms will keep you warm & safe? Well, that’s exactly how you’re going to feel when you meet this handsome fella. Very aptly named, this guy was found wandering around a busy road and is now wandering around the shelter begging for lap sits, brushings and ear rubs. Teddy Bear’s been known to offer dishwashing assistance to trade for chin scritches and is always up for helping to scoop the litter box.

Some of you may know that the first teddy bears were made by toymakers in the early 20th century and were named after President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. The name originated from a hunting incident where an American black bear had been cornered, clubbed and tied to a tree. Roosevelt was called to the site to have the opportunity to shoot the captive animal. The President refused, deeming it unsportsmanlike and thus many political cartoons were born. Eventually, the bear became smaller & cuter in deference to the respect for the Office.

The stuffed teddy bear became an instant hit, and has been celebrated in stories, songs and movies. Many of the “plush” versions have been handed down to children, generation after generation, with special worn spots, missing eyes and lopsided limbs, but always well loved. Teddy Bear will voluntarily head bop an arm, nudging for a trip down memory lane for you or create new, sweet memories for your little boy or girl. Sitting with you for a moment (or hour) of recollection of a simpler, uncomplicated time.

Teddy’s adoption fee this month of July is just $10! All you could ever want in a best friend: neutered, UTD, healthy! Not only is he a catch, but he’s also a bargain!
