A Notice from The Rockport Center for the Arts: Re: Hurricane

Dear Patrons,

Currently, there is a hurricane and storm surge watch for the Texas coast with the potential for heavy rain and flooding. Tropical storm force winds and surge impacts are expected to begin Thursday night with landfall along mid-coast Friday night. (read more here)

On Thursday afternoon the Art Center building will be boarded, a measure of precaution in advance of a possible storm system landfall.

Because of the limited time to prepare for the storm event, the Art Center cannot be responsible for relocation or safe storage of work held in the Members Galleries or the Gift Shop.  Any members with work currently in the Members Gallery or Gift Shop who wish to do so may collect their work between 10 AM and 4 PM tomorrowThursday, August 24.  (Main Gallery Artists will be contacted directly by Taylor Hendrix.)

We encourage you to come early in the day in case storm updates would alter timing of events. Once the door is boarded members and staff will not be able to reenter the building until the storm system has passed.

The Art Center will close at 4 PM Thursday. We will email and post on social media information about reopening for operations as soon as that information is available.

In the meantime, we encourage you to monitor the situation and rely on local media for accurate information. You can find the most up-to-date information on the City of RockportTown of Fulton or Aransas County websites.
