Roving Reporter | "The Return of OUR Winter Texans" | Photos and Text by Lisa Kaye Knoblett

Hundreds of them!

Since living here, each year I look forward to photographing our winter Texans--the white pelicans.

Today, the pelicans have returned in full force! I have never been so happy to see them! It's one more thing that will help make our community "normal." I hope that Harvey left them enough to sustain themselves with as far as food and shelter goes.

Due to the distance these photos are not the best, but I just wanted to share with the community that we are growing everyday, and slowly returning to normal, like the pelicans. We may have a new normal, but it's good to know we will still have some of the things we enjoy.

I am also hoping when the whooping cranes arrive, that they too, will be able to thrive on what's left of the wrath of Harvey.

Once the pelicans settle in, I will definitely have better photos to share. I just wanted to share what a large group flew by!

Welcome home gang!
