Roving Reporter | "Alternative Halloween Event a Sweet Success" | Text and Photos by Vicki Totten

Once again Rockport came together to overcome the challenges presented by Hurricane Harvey. Instead of cancelling Halloween because so many houses were destroyed, the Children's Coalition of Aransas County organized a Trick or Treat event near the beach park. Twenty nine organizations donated their time and candy to make sure Rockport's young people still had their Halloween experience.

There were games and art activities, a pirate on his hurricane damaged boat, and costumed trick or treaters of all sizes and ages. Even the police and ambulance personnel were there handing out candy. Based upon the number of people attending, it appeared as if the event was a sweet success.
