City of Rockport | "Christmas is Coming To Rockport-Fulton"

Employees with the City of Rockport’s Public Works and Parks departments will take a break from their double duty of regular work and post hurricane activities to start holiday decorating. On Monday, November 27, the Street Department will be hanging fixtures on light poles on major thoroughfares. These include Austin Street, Market Street and Business 35.

At the same time, the Parks Department will light up Compass Rose Park, which is located on Business 35 overlooking Little Bay. As in the past, the department will construct a 40+ foot tree adorned with thousands of LED lights. The official illumination will take place on Saturday, December 2 after the lighted parade, and before the fireworks, which are part of the annual Tropical Christmas celebration.

Tropical Christmas is a day-long extravaganza kicking off the holiday season with fun, festivities, fireworks and more in Historic Rockport. Among the featured events are an illuminated night parade, children’s programs, vintage fashion show, decorating contests, arts and crafts festival, food and entertainment, and, of course, a visit with “Tropical Santa”. Topping off the annual event will be a spectacular, fireworks display accompanied by the sounds of “Cast in Bronze.”

Reliant Energy has voluntarily stepped up as an unofficial sponsor. The company will be providing prizes and gifts for two of the children’s programs, costumes and support for Another Chance RFT (Aransas Animal Control) pet adoptions, giveaways at the festival, and funding the cost of major rental equipment.
