The Aransas County Long Term Recovery Team and the Rockport-Fulton Chamber Foundation have teamed up to host a free Recovery Fair, Town Hall and day of healing starting at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. at the Festival Grounds at Rockport Harbor.

The schedule is set as follows: 11:30a.m. food and drink will be served while quantities last. Speaker Matt Deighton will enlighten the crowd with an inspirational message as he is a survivor of a EF5 Tornado that hit Greensburg, KS in 2007. His message will help citizens deal with the devastation and destruction of Hurricane Harvey. "It's a message you will not want to miss not to mention all the key activities throughout the day with the Recovery Fair, Town Hall Meeting and Candlelight Ceremony," said Tiffanie Hoover, chairman of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber Foundation. The Recovery Fair and questions and answers will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. At 5 p.m. State Representative Todd Hunter will do a live Town Hall Meeting to help answer more questions. At 5:30p.m. food and drink will again be served while quantities last. Speaker Matt Deighton will give an evening message followed by a prayer and closing candlelight (cell phone flashlights) service to end the evening with a healing message.

"This is a day set aside to give you answers as best as we can," said Mike Koerner, Aransas County Long Term Recovery Director. "We are working fast and hard to handle what Hurricane Harvey has done to you and our community and we have lots to help bring you up to date with the most current facts and information."

About Matt…

Matt Deighton is a survivor of the EF5 tornado that wiped Greensburg, Kansas off the map on May 4th, 2007. Matt became the Volunteer Coordinator along with his Dalmatian, Molly. The pair greeted over 14,000 volunteers, and later traveled to disaster sites around the United States including AR, TX, OK, NY, IA, GA, with Matt traveling to Newtown CT, and Sendi Region of Japan. Matt's ability to capture the audience with his travels, and experiences of disasters delivers a "pay if forward" message that everyone will take home with them. The 45 minute program finishes with Q & A. People who attend will examine their life for what not to expect. Matt shares his personal experiences dealing with death, care giving for his elder parents, and the events of losing everything by an EF5 tornado. Matt talks about the four things the tornado could not take from him. The clothes off his back, his Mom, his Dalmatian Molly, and his faith in God. You will laugh along with Matt as he describes working with different religious organizations that came to volunteer in Greensburg. Greensburg's statistics are breathtaking, and Matt delivers them in a unique way that everyone can relate to.

"It always amazes me how many people come up to me after I speak and share their personal stories. I can relate to what Aransas County has gone through and I can help." -- Matt
