RCA | A Message from Luis Purón, Executive Director, about Upcoming Programming and Events

For the past 11 years, the Rockport Film Festival has brought the best independent cinema to the Coastal Bend. Strong attendance over the course of the three-day event, demonstrates that our community’s passion for the arts is as strong as ever. Held on the beautiful lawns of the Fulton-Bruhl home, The Red Carpet Event and the screening of The Farthest, was attended by over 200 guests. A total of 40 film screenings were held at the Texas Maritime Museum, and two receptions for filmmakers and the public were held at WindWay Gallery and the Fulton Mansion. Furthermore, community partnerships between local organizations; as well as government and corporate support for the event were formidable. With a total of 953 Film Festival guests, it is very clear that our community believes the show must go on.

I am very excited to announce that our next major event, scheduled for the first weekend in April 2018, is taking place. I can confirm that the Kickoff Party, which has traditionally opened the Tour of Homes weekend, is scheduled for April 6 at one of the most remarkable homes on Fulton Beach Road. On April 7, instead of homes, visitors will tour artists’ studios, learn about medium, process, technique and have one-of-a kind opportunities to build on their art collections. We are excited to feature and support artists who have made our community and Rockport Center for the Arts stand-up and be recognized as a significant art colony across Texas and the United States.

This innovation to the Tour, will relieve homeowners of the added stress of meeting deadlines, so they can focus on rebuilding rather than remodeling.

Please save the following dates:
  • Friday, April 6, 2018 - Kickoff Party, the Social Event of the Spring Season
  • Saturday, April 7, 2018 - Rockport Artists’ Studio Tour
  • Saturday, April 7, 2018 @ 5 PM – Opening Reception: Artist To Be Determined
With your support, 2018 will be a banner year for the arts and cultural tourism in Rockport.

Thank you,

Luis Purón
Executive Director
Rockport Center for the Arts
