Kudos | "Rockport Recovery" Shared by Patricia Doggett

I believe it is time to let everyone know about a special person who is leading a “Recovery Effort” without any help from FEMA, or any other financial institution including City Hall of Rockport. We are Winter Texans that come here like myself for 6 months. We are here at Blue Lagoons.

During one of our Thursday Pot Luck dinners, Deb Honeycutt came to speak about the recovery issues she is facing. She spoke how she took in 7 homeless people right after HARVEY. She also explained what some of your citizens are going through just trying to stay safe and alive. She explained how these people were living (existing) from day to day.

Our park was so moved because like us, we all made sure to bring tools to help with the Rockport Recovery program. None of us knew where to start with helping until Deb spoke that night. I want to let you and Rockport know what your “Winter Texans” have been doing on Rockport’s behalf. I can’t write about everything that we do or that Deb does, its just to much.

On Tuesdays, our guys go out helping put people back into a place that now has working toilets, hot water, insulation, building handicap ramps. We ladies, have prepared meals as Deb feeds 70 families, we bought children’s gifts for Christmas, and all other activates for Deb’s disenfranchised.

Deb takes no money for herself, if she is given a donation, she gives it for supplies our guys need to hammer, nail, insulation, wall board and move items in order to make someone else’s life a little better.

We checked this lady out and found her to be the real deal. So please report on her efforts and I again want to inform you this letter is a small token to sing the praises of all our people living here at Blue Lagoons.
