Neli Spurrell (r) talks about upcoming clean-ups

Like many organizations in the Coastal Bend, Keep Aransas County Beautiful (KACB) suffered setbacks from Hurricane Harvey. Most of the organization's board has been dispersed or are working to repair damage to their homes. However, the board is working hard to regenerate and get back on track.  For the first time since the hurricane, the board was able to meet.

At their January 31, 2018 meeting, board members Neli Spurrell and Mark Waters announced plans to support planned clean-ups on February 10 (9:00 a.m. to noon) at Little Bay, February 17, (9:00 a.m. to noon) in Fulton, and February 18, (noon-4:00 p.m.) in downtown Rockport. KACB will provide clean-up supplies through Keep Texas Beautiful, as well as volunteers. The board also discussed ways they could work with the Aransas County Long-Term Recovery Team on more difficult beachfront clean-up projects with the Aransas County Navigation District.

The group is also doing fundraising to replace the Blue Crab. About $8,000 has been raised and the group will hold its next Blue Crab rebuilding fundraiser at Winery on the Bay on February 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. KACB will also announce the winners of their Snow Day photography contest, sponsored in conjunction with the Rockport Center for the Arts, at the fundraiser. Although this was a board of directors meeting, many volunteers, including representatives from the other clean-up projects, attended.
