Roving Reporter | "Picking Up the Pieces (of Trash) Downtown" by Jeanette Larson

The Rockport Heritage and Arts District hosted a Downtown CleanUp on Sunday, February 18, 2018. Supported by Keep Aransas County Beautiful, Keep Texas Beautiful, and all of the downtown businesses, more than 125 volunteers met at Apple Dumpling Deli and then spread out to pick up trash and debris left from Hurricane Harvey and the subsequent demolition of buildings and other rebuilding activities. Some of the "treasures" found included rocks left from the Rocks of Rockport group that were probably left outside of local businesses that are now gone. Volunteers received t-shirts from Rock Bottom Park and Pub as well as snacks and water.
