Reopening of the Texas Maritime Museum

Six months and two weeks since the direct hit of Hurricane Harvey in Rockport, the Museum has recovered and restored the loss of the Museum gallery, the copper roof, and many of the display graphics for the interior exhibits. The Museum will re-open on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Texas Maritime Museum is the “official” maritime Museum for the State of Texas designated by the Legislature in 1987.

We do hope the public will take this opportunity to come SEA what’s new and exciting at the Museum. The Texas Maritime Museum mission is to excite and educate the public about Texas maritime history and artifacts. The four central themes include: History and Technology of offshore petroleum production, History and Development of Texas seaports maritime communities, and maritime commerce along the Gulf, Exploration/settlement history Texas Gulf and an Overview of Texas seafood/fishing industry.
